Simultaneous determination of five opium alkaloids in underground waters using molecularly imprinted polymer-modified magnetic nanoparticle based dispersive micro-solid phase extraction followed by high performance liquid chromatography

In this work, we present a fast, simple and selective method for the extraction/preconcentration determination of five opium alkaloids. This is based on combination dispersive solid phase extraction with magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIP) via high performance liquid chromatography. The surface modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesised in-situ, from co-precipitation by addition mixture methacrylic acid ammonia to Fe2+/Fe3+ under nitrogen atmosphere. MMIP was prepared in presence ethylene glycol dimethyl acrylate as cross-linker azobisisobutyronitrile initiator template molecule reflux acetonitrile. MMIPs natural occurring alkaloids, including morphine (MO), codeine (CO), thebaine (TE), noscapine (NO) papaverine (PA) same manner. Structural characterisation elucidation both nanoprticles performed Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction vibrating sample magnetometry. A precise chromatographic developed coupled simultaneous preconcentration above-mentioned alkaloids underground water samples. limit detection obtained 0.007, 0.004, 0.003, 0.003 mg L−1 MO, CO, TE, NO PA, respectively recoveries about 97–102%. Linear dynamic range relative standard deviation 0.03–100 less than 1.5% each analyte.
